There is nothing that says you have to dress up on your wedding day. In fact, many people do elope and end up wearing anything that they want to. Yes, people get married wearing jeans and shorts and tank tops. And let's face it, being in the Daytona Beach area, there are probably people that get married in their swimsuits. But is this the kind of thing that you want? Think about it, your wedding only comes around once. Why not give your event some extra pizzazz by looking your best. Picture it, the beautiful weather, the beautiful venue, and your beautiful formal wear. All of these elements go together quite well. We realize that there are some things that could go wrong on your wedding day and that would be out of your control. But there is something that is certainly in your control and that will be perfect on your special day and that is the groom's tuxedo and the bride's gown. And with that in mind, we have provided a guide to finding the perfect formal wear. Following the steps below will ensure that you look your absolute best on your wedding day.
We realize that a bride wants to be able to take her time when shopping for that perfect dress. With this in mind, we recommend that you make any appointments on a weekday and in the morning if possible. Start your search early because once you find your perfect dress, you will need the time to have it delivered and then fitted and altered. You should go to every appointment with an open mind about what might look good on you. Sometimes a gown that you absolutely love might have one or two issues that you might like to change. Ask the consultant because in many cases the construction of a dress can be changed. More than likely, alterations will not be included in your overall price because of the fact that it is hard to determine how much will need to be done to a specific dress and how many fittings you might need. If you are on a budget, ask if you could buy a sample. It may be worth it to you especially if you find a dress that you really like. Find out if they will steam your dress when it comes in. Either way, it will need it and it is a nice service for the shop to offer.
Unless you have been to a formal event in the past, we realize you will have questions about men's formal wear. The first decision that you will face is whether to rent or buy. The answer to this question depends a lot on whether you will be needing a tuxedo in the future. If you know for certain that you will be attending multiple formal events over the next few years, then purchasing a tuxedo may be worth your while. It would be more of an investment at that point. But if you can't think of any reason that you would ever slip it back on again, renting is probably more the way to go. It makes sense in terms of cost as well because in general, renting a tuxedo will cost about 10% to 30 % of what it would cost you to buy one. We suggest that bring the bride along as you look for a formal wear store. You can either look up a few shops in your area and give them a shot or you can ask people you know for recommendations. One thing that we highly recommend is that you make sure any store you visit updates its inventory on a regular basis. You also want to make sure that the shop employs knowledgeable alteration staff. This is one of the most important factors. If the shop personnel try to sell you something that you don't want or don't need, don't hesitate to walk out. Have a talk about accessories and whether they have what you are looking for in terms of cummerbund, cufflinks, suspenders, and shoes. It is a very good idea to have all of your groomsmen visit the same shop so that everyone matches perfectly. You may even get a discount out of it.
When you are searching for your perfect wedding dress, we have one simple rule. Put a smile on your face and enjoy the ride. Don't overstress about finding the right one, it will happen. Just follow this guide.
